Abstract:In hypervelocity impacts of composite materials, shock initiation and interaction with composite constituents dominate its responses, particularly the formation and features of the debris cloud. A numerical simulation was performed in this paper to investigate the wave propagation mechanism and obtain the wave response using the finite element method in order to estimate the features of the hypervelocity impact into honeycomb composite with stitched facesheets. Wave propagation can be seen when the structure i… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
