Sidechain engineering in anthracene derivatives: towards photofunctional liquid crystals

Abstract: A series of anthracene derivatives were synthesised to explore how their sidechain configurations influenced their phase behaviour and thereby guiding the design of photofunctional liquid crystalline materials.
