Silica supported yttrium trinitrate: preparation, characterization and application in catalytic Biginelli condensation

Abstract: New silica-supported yttrium trinitrate was prepared, characterized, and used as a reusable catalyst for the three-component synthesis of quinazolinones/thiones via the Biginelli condensation under solvent-free conditions. Non-toxic reagent, short reaction times, simple work-up procedure, and high yield of the products are some of the important advantages of present method.

“…So, optimization of the methods for the efficient synthesis of xanthenes has been widely demanded by chemists. [22][23][24] On the other hand, acridine derivatives are a nitrogencontaining heterocyclic organic compound with important biological activities 25 such as antimalarial 26 and chemotherapy of cancer. 27 1,8-Dioxodihydroacridine derivatives can be prepared using quasi-four-component reaction between dimedone, aromatic aldehyde and amine or ammonium acetate in solvent-free thermal conditions in the presence of various catalysts.…”

“…[1][2][3][4][5] Solid acids as catalyst generally have high turnover numbers and have significant role in the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. [6][7][8][9][10] Furthermore, they can be easily separated from the organic components. 11 Among organic compounds, xanthenes and its derivatives have received significant attention in recent years due to their wide range of biological and therapeutic properties.…”
