Silver Nanocrystals with Concave Surfaces and Their Optical and Surface‐Enhanced Raman Scattering Properties

“…In the growth solution, hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and gold (III) chloride trihydrate (HAuCl 4 ) were mixed to create the AuBr 4 -complex, and this complex was reduced to Au + by adding ascorbic acid (AA). To this typical growth solution, different kinds of benzenethiol molecules were added as shape modifiers.…”

“…Later, the competition between the growth of different crystal facets was also reported in the synthesis of concave Ag NCs such as octahedron, cube, octapod and trisoctahedron (Fig. 2b) [44]. In addition, some metal NCs with high-index facets and unconventional shapes [5] can be also generated by sophisticated control.…”

“…Notable examples include structures composed of Ag, Au, Pd, Pt, Rh, or Cu and enclosed by low-index facets, such as cubes, octahedra, cuboctahedra, tetrahedra, decahedra, icosahedra, rectangular bars, and pentagonal rods or wires. Additionally, nanocrystals covered by high-index facets, including concave cubes or octahedra, octapods, trisoctahedra, tetrahexahedra, and hexoctahedra, have also been prepared with great uniformity (12,(27)(28)(29)(30)(31)(32)(33).…”
