Similarity-Based Trust Management System: Data Validation Scheme

Abstract: Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) are a special case of ad hoc networks with highly mobile nodes (on-board vehicles). One of the goals of VANETs is to use trusted relationships among vehicles to achieve cooperative driving. In this paper, we present a trust management system that uses similarity to establish and maintain trust relationships among the vehicles in the network. Additionally, we present a scheme that uses the similarity-based trust relationships to detect false safety event messages from abnormal… Show more

“…This scheme is feasible when more meeting time is needed between vehicles for communication, to build a trust model. The limitation of echo‐protocol is when the safety event elevator (SEE) echo safety event to safety event reporter (SER) and SER might not reply due to signal loss or out of range communication from SEE that is also considered as malicious event [33].…”

“…The goal of cooperation to transmit safety messages ensures the security of safety messages. The proposed scheme uses the concept of [10, 33] and develop a new trust management system that can efficiently detect false event with low overhead and latency. The proposed trust management scheme is decentralised because of limitations in centralised systems and to establish a new beacon trust management system called BTMS‐FDD.…”

“…The second limitation is when a safety event elevator (SEE) sends echo safety event alert to a safety event reporter (SER). If SER does not reply due to signal loss or out of range communication from SEE, it is also considered as malicious data [81].…”
