Simple and fast colorimetric and electrochemical methods for the ultrasensitive detection of glucose

Abstract: Developing ultrasensitive and user-friendly methods for the detection glucose has attracted more and more attention. By virtue of high selectivity and sensitivity, enzyme-based glucose sensor plays a key role in point-of-care sensing technology for detecting glucose concentration. In this study, Amplex Red (AR), as both indicator and mediator, was investigated to detect glucose in presence of glucose oxidase (GOx) enzymes using colorimetric and electrochemical methods. Without using any advanced techniques and… Show more

“…In the comparison with some other nanomaterial sensors for glucose detection ( Han et al, 2017 ; Guo et al, 2019 ; Ren et al, 2019 ; Ren et al, 2020 ; Li et al, 2021 ; Liu et al, 2022 ), our proposed sensor shows a broad linear response in the range of 0.28–2.8 mM, which has wide prospects and great application values in the direct detection of glucose from human serum or other biological samples ( Gluchowska et al, 2021 ). Currently, most glucose detection methods with low LOD can only realize standard samples analysis, while our work greatly achieved glucose detection from 31 serum samples.…”

“…H 2 O 2 is a well-known oxidizing compound that is widely used for daily disinfection, printing, and dyeing, as well as pharmaceutical industry. , Meanwhile, H 2 O 2 as a product of enzymatic reactions is also associated with many human diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, cardiovascular disease, etc., due to the changes in its concentration in the body. , Likewise, diabetes is another chronic metabolic disease, caused by abnormal glucose concentration in the blood. , Therefore, it is a very significant and interesting project for rapid and exact determination of H 2 O 2 and glucose from the viewpoint of human health and daily life. In recent decades, many related analytical methods have been adopted, including colorimetric, fluorescence, electrochemical methods, etc. Among them, electrochemical sensors are more interesting and attractive due to their faster and more accurate characteristics. Electrochemical sensors are generally divided into enzyme-based and non-enzymatic sensors.…”
