Simple and Ultrahigh Efficient Superhydrophilic Polydopamine-coated TiO2 Cotton for Oil–water Separation

Abstract: Oil–water mixing has brought many problems to a society, and it is of great significance to develop a simple, convenient, efficient, and durable separation material to solve the problem of oil–water mixing. In this paper, modified cottons were successfully prepared using polydopamine as the in situ mineralization site of TiO2 nanoparticles combined with synergistic crosslinking with KH550. A large number of hydrophilic groups endowed the cotton with superhydrophilic ability, which greatly shortened its water s… Show more

“…Notably, the preparation of micro/nano structures with re-entrant curvature, which is the most significant element for designing superamphiphobic surfaces, in addition to high roughness and low surface energy. 6,7 Li et al introduced the design principles of reentrant structures such as round, trapezoid-shaped, responsive, slippery, etc. 8 However, these texture structures usually rely on the stencil method, 9 photolithography, 10,11 and plasma treatment, 12 which are demanding for instruments, require complicated procedures, and have low economic efficiency, and so are not conducive to large-scale preparation.…”
