Simulation Approach to Decision Assessment in Enterprises

Abstract: The methodology of an integrated simulation system application for decision-making support in enterprises is described in this article. The use of visual interac tive modelling and animation can help users better understand simulation results, especially those who are not experts. Decision-makers are motivated by the aniniation while seeking better solutions for pro duction problems. The method was tested in a medium- sized company in order to improve operational plan ning and re-engineering. The real process … Show more

“…Many successful businesses intensively use simulation as an instrument for operational and strategic planning. In the modern simulation paradigm (Kljajić, Bernik, & Škraba, 2000), the connectivity of a simulation model typically involves integration with a static database of business variables, a user friendly front-end and additional decision support tools such as expert systems (ES) or group decision support systems (GDSS). The schematic of such a system is shown in Figure 1.…”

“…Simulation and modelling are frequently applied for the scenarios evaluations [2][3][4]. In the field of factory floor layout optimisation, paper [5] posits that manufacturers with diverse product portfolio need new methods for floor layout development that would allow more flexibility, modularity and easy reconfiguration of layout.…”

“…It is argued that more robust strategic tools emerge from the interaction between the narrative and numerical contributions [22,[32][33][34]. A combined narrative and numerical approach can strengthen strategy development [20].…”
