Checking attendance in a classroom is a factor contributing to the final performance of the students in the course. For both students and professors, attendance checking by name is very time-consuming and, in particular, the latter is very susceptible to simple attendance fraud. The study used a Face Recognition based attendance method using the YOLOv3 approach as an alternative. The system, based on face-detection and face-recognition algorithms, automatically recognizes, and marks attendance by recognizing the student. The experimental result shows that by using the trained model with a training accuracy of 98.01%, the proposed attendance system achieved 94% face recognition efficiency.

Radio-Frequency Identification banyak diimplementasikan dalam sistem absensi. Penerapan teknologi RFID untuk absensi perkuliahan yang diselenggarakan dengan banyak kelas tentu akan banyak memerlukan perangkat RFID Reader. Permasalahan seperti ini dapat disiasati dengan menggunakan perangkat absensi portable sehingga penggunaannya dapat dilakukan secara berpindah-pindah. Akan tetapi, penggunaan perangkat absensi dengan berpindah-pindah dapat menyebabkan gangguan koneksi ke server basis data karena penggunaan jaringan nirkabel. Oleh karena itu, absensi portable yang memiliki mode online dan offline dapat dijadikan salah satu solusi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan absensi portable yang dapat digunakan secara berpindah-pindah tanpa harus terkendala dengan koneksi jaringan ketika proses absensi dilakukan. Absensi portable yang dikembangkan memiliki fitur mode online dan offline, mode online diaktifkan ketika ada koneksi sedangkan mode offline berfungsi ketika koneksi ke server basis data tidak tersedia. Perangkat yang dikembangkan menggunakan modul RFID Reader MFRC522 sebagai pembaca tag RFID, platform Arduino Mega 2560 sebagai pemroses, sedangkan pencatatan data absensi disimpan sementara pada sebuah memori SD card saat mode offline, dan pencatatan data absensi akan disinkronkan ke server basis data ketika mode online aktif. Fungsi utama seperti, pembacaan ID dosen, ID mahasiswa, pencatatan kehadiran, dan sinkronisasi data ke server basis data telah berfungsi dengan baik. Proses absensi mode online memerlukan waktu rata-rata selama 2,1 detik, sedangkan untuk fitur mode offline memerlukan waktu rata-rata sebesar 0,24 detik dari 19 orang subjek untuk masing-masing mode.

The Adoption of digital content by the institutional members & students have seen rapid growth in recent years. The students could access the content across various devices, platform & applications, which has a direct implication on the physical presence of the student. The institutions follow old & very traditional base approach like a manual record of attendance to track the company of students which consumes a lot of time & efforts from the staff members. The study looks at the various technologies available in the market & present the implementation of the best possible solution. The latest use of technology of Facial Recognition with a combination of RFID will enhance the tracking process & also provide valuable insight into student behaviour. The data collected by the system can further utilize to improve the efficiency & effectiveness of student behaviour patterns & predict the learning trend, which will help the institutions to make the correct decisions.
