Simulation of Draft Force for Three Types of Plow Using Response Surface Method Under Various Field Conditions

Abstract: In this study a mathematical models were developed to simulate draft force for three types of plows (moldboard, chisel and disk plow). The study was carried out in the experimental field of Agricultural Machinery Department at University of Basrah, which had silty clay soil texture. Independent parameters included three levels of tillage depth (0.15, 0.20 and 0.25m), three forward speeds (0.54, 0.83 and 1.53 m/s) and two levels of cone index (550 and 980 kPa). Response Surface Method (RSM) was utilized to prod… Show more

“…The results of the analysis in Table (1) show the moral effect of depth on the percentage of fuel consumption and its increase from 17.78 , 23.40, and 28.54 L.ha -1 . When the depth is increased from 10 to 20 to 30 cm due to an increase in the amount of raised soil and the completion of more work, this agrees With the results obtained (Jebur,2016).…”

“…Table (1) shows the effect of the plowing depth, the disc angle of the disc harrows and the bilateral interaction between them on the Pull force in the tractor. The results of the statistical analysis obtained showed the effect of the depth of the tillage significantly on the draft force.…”

“…They found increase in fuel consumption and decrease in field capacity performance with increasing slippage of tractor. For development and improvement efficiency of agricultural operation and making agricultural machinery to work at optimum performance, many researchers were toward the investigation of the effect of field parameters and soil condition on the machinery's performance (Muhsin, 2010;Almaliki et al, 2016;Almaliki, 2018;Shafaei et al, 2018;Almaliki et al, 2019). The realization of this importance led to the evolution of many arithmetical models to simulate the performance of machinery when performing field works.…”

“…(Askari et al, 2019(. One of the most approaches to reduce the requirements of energy can be achieved by increasing the efficiency of tillage. The required energy to operate a tillage tool in the soil is used to overcome the mechanical strength of the soil and to cause displacement, which results in break-up the soil (Muhsin, 2017;Almaliki, 2018;Almaliki et al, 2019).…”
