Simulation of fluorescent annual-layer patterns in stalagmites based on cave climate monitoring data: an example from Komori-ana Cave, Akiyoshi-dai Plateau, southwest Japan
Abstract:<p>Fluorescent annual layers with thicknesses of 0.01&#8211;0.1 mm occur frequently in stalagmites around the world. Aggradational variations of fluorescence intensity expressing those annual layers have been postulated as being caused by seasonal fluctuations of the supply of fulvic acid from the surface. The variation patterns of fluorescence intensity in annual layers can be classified into symmetric, gradually increasing, and gradually decreasing types. Numerical simulation of fluores… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
