“…Moreover, HAuCl 4 can serve as a precursor without any reducing agent to obtain fluorescent Au NCs under native conditions through in vivo biosynthesis. 19,20 Protein-based protocols hold particular promise, as proteins act as reducing and stabilizing agents that produce water-soluble, biocompatible, and low-toxic 21 NCs under mild reaction conditions. 12 Protein-capped NCs retain their fluorescence (FL) in a wide range of pH and can easily be conjugated with target and drug molecules.…”

“…Zeta potential and dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements were performed with the Brookhaven Zeta Potential Analyzer. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was measured using Thermo Fisher ESCALAB 250Xi X-ray 6 photoelectron spectrometer. For MALDI-time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometry (MS) analysis, an AB Sciex 5800 MALDI TOF/TOF analyzer was used with 2,4,6-trihydroxyacetophenone as the matrix.…”

“…Compared with organic dyes and semiconductor quantum dots (QDs), metal nanoclusters own fantastic features like outstanding photostability, low biotoxicity and good bio-compatibility 5,6 . As the bridge between single atom and nanoparticles, metal nanoclusters have provided a wide area for the development of nanotechnology 7 .…”

“…Moreover, Wang's group reported a novel strategy for the self-bioimaging of tumors in vivo through in situ synthesized fluorescent AuNCs based on the fact that the quantity of redox homeostasis is different between cancer cells and normal cells [130]. Lately, based on the above in situ generation method, Wang's group further explored bioimaging of various cancer cells and diseases in vivo [131][132][133][134]. For the purpose of achieving targeted cell imaging, fluorescent AuNCs can be modified with recognition elements.…”
