“…Surviving larvae and post-larvae were examined and classified according to shell growth (Leighton 1974;Searcy-Bernal et al 1992). Five to 10 larvae were examined at each stage of shell growth and the development of the radula determined using a radula squash preparation ).…”

“…employed as larval settlement substrate for various species of sea urchins (Mos et al, 2011) and other invertebrates (Daume et al, 2004;Knauer et al, 1996;Leighton, 1989;Searcy-Bernal et al, 1992). …”

“…Reported 48-h EC 50 values were 33-45.9 mg/l for DMP, 52-86 mg/l for DEP LeBlanc 1980), 3.0-5.2 mg/l for DBP (McCarthy and Whitmore 1985;Scholz 1994), and 3.7 mg/l for BBP (Gledhill et al 1980). Toxicity tests of PAEs have also been performed with invertebrates Hyalella azteca, Chironomus tentans, and Lumbriculus variegates.…”

“…The slides with diatoms and bacteria films were prepared by placing them in an aeration tank containing SFS and diatoms (obtained from an abalone culturing farm in Dapeng Bay) for 24 h. The percentages of settled larvae and fully metamorphosed larvae on the slides were recorded after another 84 h of incubation. Therefore the total exposure time for the completion of larval metamorphosis was 96 h. Fully metamorphosed larvae were identified when the peristomial shell appeared (Searcybernal et al 1992;Gapasin and Polohan 2004 Two liter of SFS taken from Dapeng Bay was firstly filtered through Whatman GF/B filter paper (1 lm), and then extracted with 20 ml hexane for two times, and all the hexane was collected together. The mixed hexane was evaporated under nitrogen to 0.5 ml, and then analyzed by means of a GC-2010 gas chromatography (Shimadzu, Japan) coupled to a mass selective detector.…”
