Simultaneous removal of methyl orange and Cr(VI) using polyethyleneimine-modified corncob-derived carbon material

Abstract: Polyethyleneimine (PEI) modified corncob-derived carbon material (CCM) was prepared by the simple wet-impregnation technique. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and nitrogen isothermal adsorption/desorption measurements were used to compare the structural differences between the CCM and the PEI-modified CCM (PEI-CCM). In the single-pollutant removal experiment, the PEI-CCM showed high adsorption capac… Show more

“…Various techniques for removing these contaminants have been established, namely chemical precipitation, membrane separation, solvent extraction, and physical adsorption. Some of these methods have significant drawbacks, such as limited removal efficiency, high removal cost, and extended removal time [ 4 ].…”

“…Adsorption has the benefits of being simple to operate, efficient, and inexpensive compared to other approaches. Several efficient adsorbents have been produced in recent years because the adsorbent’s characteristics significantly impact its performance [ 4 ]. The adsorbent chosen in the adsorption process is essential; however, specific adsorbents have a high cost, poor recyclability, and limited capacity, limiting their application.…”

“…In recent years, using natural minerals and wastes to develop new materials has become a new trend. [38] Since using waste to prepare material has the advantage of low cost, heterogeneous base catalysts derived from waste have attracted extensive attention in the field of GC synthesis [39]. These catalysts exhibit an outstanding catalytic performance in the synthesis of GC and could be easily recycled and reused.…”
