Abstract:We propose a new excitation technique based on simultaneous resonance phenomenon to improve performance of the multi-frequency atomic force microscopy. Simultaneous resonances, activated due to the nonlinear nature of the tip oscillations and intermodal couplings for a certain family of multi-frequency excitations, may be used to gather more information about the sample. We consider a non-contact atomic force microscope and model the three-dimensional probe-tip structure as an Euler-Bernoulli beam. Equations g… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
