Simultaneous separation and determination of five chlorogenic acid isomers in Honeysuckle by capillary electrophoresis using self‐synthesized ionic liquid [N‐methylimidazole‐β‐cyclodextrin] [bromide] as separation selector

Abstract: A simple, comprehensive, and efficient capillary electrophoresis method using a self‐synthesized ionic liquid [N‐methylimidazole‐β‐cyclodextrin] [bromide] as a separation selector was developed for the simultaneous separation and determination of five chlorogenic acid isomers (chlorogenic acid, cryptochlorogenic acid, neochlorogenic acid, isochlorogenic acid A, isochlorogenic acid B). After optimization of separation conditions, the electrolyte solution was 50 mM ammonium acetate buffer containing 0.7% (w/w) i… Show more

“…Xie et al synthesized a CD-based IL, [ N -methylimidazole-β-CD][bromide], for the separation of five chlorogenic acid isomers . In comparison with the IL precursor (native β-CD), the solubility of the IL in aqueous solutions was significantly increased and thus can be used in higher concentrations.…”

“…72 Xie et al synthesized a CD-based IL, [N-methylimidazole-β-CD][bromide], for the separation of five chlorogenic acid isomers. 73 In comparison with the IL precursor (native β-CD), the solubility of the IL in aqueous solutions was significantly increased and thus can be used in higher concentrations. The presence of the IL in CE buffer achieved simultaneous separation and determination of all five isomers, suggesting its potential for resolving complex samples.…”

“…L. japonica is a Chinese herbal medicine with thousands of years of history, which is known for its potent chemical composition and a wide range of pharmacological actions. It mainly contains flavonoids and organic acids such as chlorogenic acid (Bonarska‐Kujawa et al, 2014; Duan et al, 2021; Xie et al, 2022). It also contains nutrients such as protein, carbohydrates, minerals, and amino acids (Li et al, 2018).…”
