Single cell detection with micromechanical oscillators

Abstract: The ability to detect small amounts of materials, especially pathogenic bacteria, is important for medical diagnostics and for monitoring the food supply. Engineered micro- and nanomechanical systems can serve as multifunctional, highly sensitive, immunospecific biological detectors.
