Single Crystal Growth and Crystal Structure of Mercurous Diarsenate(V), (Hg2)2(As2O7)

Abstract: Polycrystalline mercurous diarsenate(V), (Hg 2 ) 2 (As 2 O 7 ), was prepared by a redox-reaction between stoichiometric amounts of HgO and As 2 O 3 . Canary yellow single crystals were obtained by subsequent chemical transport reactions using HgCl 2 as transport agent [550 Ǟ 500°C, 5 d, sealed and evacuated silica ampoules].
