Single-exposure phase-shifting digital holography using a random-complex-amplitude encoded reference wave

Abstract: The improved single-exposure phase-shifting digital holography using a random-phase reference wave is proposed. The algorithm for obtaining a complex amplitude of an object wave is improved. In the proposed algorithm, the reference wave is treated as not a random-phase but a random-complex amplitude. Therefore, the algorithm uses proper amplitude information of the reference wave. Both numerical simulations and experimental results are given to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

“…1, we briefly review our proposed generalized phase-shifting digital holography according to the reference. 11 It is assumed that the complex amplitude of the object wave has the same quantity on all four neighboring pixels, whereas the reference wave has different quantities on the each pixel. Let A o denote the complex amplitude of the object wave on the pixels, respectively.…”

“…8,9 The single-exposure wave-splitting generalized phase-shifting techniques for digital holography has been proposed. [10][11][12] In this approach, the phase-shift quantity, which corresponds to the difference between the phase quantities of the reference wave on the adjacent pixels, is not restricted but generalized. In this paper, the generalized phase-shifting digital holography is expanded to two kinds of color digital holography.…”

“…Meanwhile, in the literature [16], after obtaining the amplitude a o and the phase ϕ o , A o is indirectly obtained from A o a o expiϕ o . The expression is different, but the essence is not different.…”
