Single Headlamp with Low- and High-Beam Light

Abstract: Generally, automobiles are typically equipped with separate headlamp lanterns for generating low- and high-beam light. Compared with separate headlamp lanterns, a single headlamp producing both low- and high-beam light can be more compact and have less mechanical complexity. The single headlamp structure has become a main emphasis of research that manufacturers will continue to focus great efforts on in the future. A novel design of a single headlamp generating both low- and high-beam light is proposed in this… Show more

“…Currently, there are automotive headlamp models that combine the low beam and high beam in a single LED module [15,16]. Some automotive lighting companies refer to this concept as BiLED [17,18] and it is mainly characterised by its compactness and reduced mechanical complexity.…”

“…Designed for dry and wet roads to solve the hazards posed by slippery roads, optimize safety, and road users' visual clarity. Ying et al [ 12 ] proposed the single headlamp design capable of producing low and high beams, which consists of a composite ellipsoid reflector, baffle, condenser lens, and low and high beam-producing LED array device. The ellipsoid reflector includes the primary ellipsoid reflector that produces a low beam, and the second ellipsoid reflector that produces a high beam.…”

“…These solid-state light sources provide enhanced efficiency in terms of thermal management, optical performance, and overall reliability. The design and development of external lighting equipment types are continuously expanding, aiming to achieve greater flexibility across hardware, software, and optics to meet the demands of emerging functions like Adaptive Frontlight Systems (AFS) and comply with ECE regulations [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ].…”
