Single‐inlet univentricular heart with persistent truncus arteriosus in a Sumatran orangutan (Pongo abelii)

Abstract: Univentricular heart malformations are rarely described in the veterinary literature. This case report describes a single‐inlet univentricular heart with persistent truncus arteriosus as a cause of death of a captive‐bred, 2‐day‐old, female Sumatran orangutan (Pongo abelii), a critically endangered species.
