Single molecule manipulation at low temperature and laser scanning tunnelling photo-induced processes analysis through time-resolved studies

Abstract: This paper describes, firstly, the statistical analysis used to determine the processes that occur during the manipulation of a single molecule through electronically induced excitations with a low temperature (5 K) scanning tunnelling microscope (STM). Various molecular operation examples are described and the ability to probe the ensuing molecular manipulation dynamics is discussed within the excitation context. It is, in particular, shown that such studies can reveal reversible manipulation for tuning dynam… Show more

“…Sections of iBAT and ingWAT (paraffin, 5 mm thick; nZ5/group, Wax-it Histological Services) were deparaffinized and rehydrated as described previously (Riedel 2010). Antigen retrieval was completed in Tris-EDTA buffer (pH 9) for 20 min at 95 8C.…”

“…To establish the number of electrons required in the dissociation of CF 3 , the reaction rate was measured as a function of tunneling current following a previously established method ( 26 , 27 ). For a chosen tunneling current, the time prior to the discontinuity in the current-versus-time curve was plotted as a histogram whose bin size was set by Doane’s formula ( 28 ).…”
