“…Laparoscopic primary anastomosis is feasible either after a right or a left colectomy, with a three‐port standard approach or in single‐incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) . Primary anastomoses can be safely performed in acute surgical patients with diffuse peritonitis but who are haemodynamically stable, and may be associated with good outcomes if performed by surgeons with significant expertise in minimally invasive and colorectal surgery, provided the anastomosis is well perfused and free of tension .…”
This case series illustrates all possible sites and techniques for colonic ICA in an emergency setting. All colorectal and acute care surgeons should have laparoscopic suturing skills.

SPLS can be performed safely in patients with complex CD even in redo surgery. There may be some technical advantages to the procedure in this group of patients.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
