Single top production in PDF fits

Abstract: We study the impact of recent LHC t-channel single top-quark and topantiquark measurements at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV on the parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the proton. We consider, namely, total cross sections, topantitop cross section ratios, and differential distributions. We present a critical appraisal of the data, studying in particular how their description is affected by the theoretical details that enter the computation of the corresponding observables: QCD and electroweak h… Show more

“…We can see that the agreement is good in all cases, albeit within rather large experimental uncertainties. There is in particular no sign of any similar significant disagreement to that observed [167] in certain distributions in the ATLAS 7 TeV measurement (though not the 8 TeV). We show the corresponding comparison to the 7 TeV top and anti-top rapidity and p ⊥ distributions [168] in Fig.…”

“…for PDF fits has been studied before in ref. [97]. To further improve the accuracy of our predictions, NLO off-shell effects implemented in MCFM [33] could be incorporated with a reweighting procedure.…”

“…In all cases, the value of χ 2 per data point correspond to the definition given in Eqs. (3.2)-(3.3) in [50]. The values in square brackets are for datasets not included in the corresponding fit.…”
