Síntese e controle de qualidade da ureia enriquecida em 13C para diagnóstico da Helicobacterpylori (HP)

Abstract: SYNTHESIS AND QUALITY CONTROL OF 13 C-ENRICHED UREA FOR Helicobacter pylori (HP) DIAGNOSIS. The aim of the study was to synthesize the urea (13 CO(NH 2) 2), with 99% 13 C atoms, and to perform a quality analysis for the diagnosis (breath test) of Helicobacter pylori. Furthermore, the process was submitted to economic analysis. The reaction was performed in a stainless steel reactor, lined with polytetrafluoroethylene, under low pressure and temperature. The synthesis method was shown to be appropriate (2.35 g;… Show more

“…Further studies involving all ethical and regulatory aspects related to the development of a new drug should be performed to achieve registration with the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) before this test is entered into the market. The results described here should stimulate the development of large-scale production of 13 C-urea to facilitate the broader use of the UBT, and the subsequent technological production advances should stimulate a dramatic reduction in the cost of the substrate, which is currently estimated at approximately US $15.00 per test 12 .…”

“…One of the main barriers regarding the use of this test is the difficulty in obtaining the labeled isotope, as the technology for carbon separation (i.e., 13 C and 12 C) has not been transferred by the countries that developed it due to economic reasons and strategic interests. Recently, researchers from the Center of Nuclear Energy in Agriculture of the University of São Paulo (CENA/USP) were able to achieve the synthesis of urea ( 13 CO(NH 2 ) 2 ) with 99% 13 C atoms with a competitive production process and a reasonable cost compared with the international market value 12 .…”

“…[3] Isotope-labelled urea, which is used for disease diagnoses and isotope tracing, is also produced through processes that consume organic matter and release harmful substances (Figure 1a). [4] Considering the global energy and environmental crisis, there is a need for the development of green chemical synthesis processes powered by renewable energy. The electricity-driven catalytic CÀ N coupling of CO 2 and nitrogenous small molecules, including nitrogen (N 2 ), [1a,5] nitric oxide (NO), [6] nitrite (NO 2 À ), [7] and nitrate (NO 3 À ), [8][9][10] has shown promise in achieving sustainable and direct urea synthesis under ambient conditions, by-passing the intermediate step of NH 3 synthesis.…”
