Ta'awun is one of the underlying principles for Takaful. This concept of ta'awun means helping each other so as not to act immoral and violate the commands of religion, and the command of God. Ta'awun plays an important role in differentiating the operations Malaysian takaful businesses with conventional counterpart. However, previous study indicated that awareness of consumers on the Takaful concept is still low and resulted to less than 50% of Malaysians as a whole have access to takaful. The main purpose of this study is to analyse the implementation of ta'awun Malaysian Takaful Operators in contribution to socio-economic objectives. In order to achieve the objective of the study, ten respondents from eight Takaful Operators were interviewed via semi-structured interview. The objectives of the study are in line with the Value based Intermediaries Takaful (VBIT) framework, which was created to provide inclusive protection for disadvantaged or underserved societal sectors and to solve key socioeconomic challenges. Main finding will highlight on the contributions of Malaysian Takaful Operators to the socio-economic objective based on ta'awun concept.

Dalam satu dekade terakhir, belum banyak ditemukan penelitian yang membahas tentang kemajuan penggunaan Internet of Things (IoT) di industri konstruksi Indonesia. Di era industri 4.0 seperti sekarang ini, dibutuhkan sebuah penelitian untuk mengetahui perkembangan IoT di industri konstruksi baik di Indonesia maupun di luar negeri, dan mengetahui kesenjangan di antaranya. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan metode bibliometrik dengan software Publish or Perish 7. Data akan dikelompokkan dalam lima ranah pada industri konstruksi yang sangat terpengaruh dengan masuknya IoT yaitu: construction safety, machine control, site management, fleet management dan project management. Dari penelitian didapati bahwa Cina merupakan negara dengan kemajuan penggunaan IoT paling pesat dimana ranah yang paling banyak dibahas adalah terkait construction safety. Sementara itu, penerapan IoT di industri konstruksi di Indonesia baru dimulai dalam beberapa tahun terkakhir, yang ditandai dengan masih sedikitnya karya ilmiah yang terkait penerapan IoT di industri konstruksi. Pemerintah Indonesia juga masih belum berinvestasi pada sektor penelitian dan pengembangan sebanyak negara lain yang ditinjau. Temuan ini diharapkan mampu menjadi basis dalam menginisiasi penerapan IoT di industri konstruksi Indonesia.

PurposeThis research aims to investigate the factors that can influence Bumiputera contractors' acceptance of the Contractor's All Risks (CAR) takaful (Islamic insurance) product using the theory of reasoned action (TRA).Design/methodology/approachUsing the method of quantitative surveys, 414 questionnaires were collected from targeted Bumiputera contractors in Malaysia (grade G1 to grade G7), except in Sabah and Sarawak, that are registered with the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and are also members of Persatuan Kontraktor Melayu Malaysia (PKMM). The data was analysed using the partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) technique.FindingsThe findings from the PLS-SEM analysis show that attitude, subjective norm, religiosity and awareness have a positive relationship with Bumiputera contractors' acceptance of the CAR takaful product. Religiosity appeared to be the most significant factor influencing Bumiputera contractors' acceptance of the CAR takaful product.Research limitations/implicationsThe respondents in this study only comprised Bumiputera contractors in Peninsular Malaysia, excluding those from Sabah and Sarawak. Therefore, it is not possible to generalise the findings to a broader population.Practical implicationsTakaful operators and their sales and marketing departments need to act proactively in promoting the benefits of investing in CAR takaful that follows Sharīʾah (Islamic law) rules and principles. They should create mechanisms to market CAR takaful better, thus accelerating its acceptance rate among contractors.Originality/valueThe paper uses the proposed extended TRA model, which includes the variables of religiosity and awareness in the TRA model. These variables were successfully integrated in the model, and the findings show that they have significantly contributed to the acceptance of the CAR takaful product among Bumiputera contractors.
