“…Due to the influence of the factors such as environment and cultivation techniques, quality of GRR varies from different sources. Consensus opinion [1] suggests that the main bioactive principles of GRR are ginsenosides (ginseng saponins), derivatives of the triterpene dammarane and/or oleanolic acid structures, especially dammarane ones, which exhibit properties of anti-cancer [2,3,4,5], neuroprotective [5,6,7,8,9], anti-oxidant [5,10,11,12,13], hepatoprotective [5,14], anti-nociception [5,15], anti-inflammatory, anti-stress, hypoglycemic, anti-fatigue [5], melanogenesis inhibitory [16], and silent information regulator two homolog 1 activator [17] effects. In addition, some ginsenosides and their aglycone exhibit good pharmacokinetic properties [18,19].…”

“…In the present study, the papain hydrolysis of bovine blood-derived fibrinogen or cglobulin resulted in the generation of hydrolysates that significantly decreased cell proliferation in various different cancer cell lines (Tables 1 and 2). Peptides, isolated from the herb Panax ginseng, have also been reported to have lower IC 50 values in suspension cells (human peripheral blood cells) compared to adherent (human gastric carcinoma cells) (Ma & Yang, 2015). U937 cells grow in suspension unlike the other cell lines used in this experiment.…”

“…Adherent oral cancer cells were grown either under normal cell culture conditions or on a 3D matrix, and it was reported that anti-cancer drugs were more toxic to cells in the 3D matrix (Adcock et al, 2015). Peptides, isolated from the herb Panax ginseng, have also been reported to have lower IC 50 values in suspension cells (human peripheral blood cells) compared to adherent (human gastric carcinoma cells) (Ma & Yang, 2015). Interestingly, results from Adcock et al (2015) found that prostate cancer cells were less sensitive in a 3D model compared to adherent cell culture conditions which may indicate cell-to-cell variation (Adcock et al, 2015).…”

“…The results suggested that DP37 and DP38 were possibly formed by the addition of one molecule of H 2 O to PPD and 20(R)‐PPD. DP37 and DP38 were tentatively identified as 25‐OH‐20(S)‐PPD and 25‐OH‐20(R)‐PPD, respectively .…”
