Smart buildings and the human-machine cloud

Abstract: The Human-Robot Cloud has previously been introduced as a framework for the creation of distributed, ondemand, reconfigurable human-machine cognitive systems [1]. These systems are made up of sensing, processing, and actuation components that are not limited to a specific type of application and potentially can be extended to multiple domains and may cover spatially smaller or larger areas. In this paper, we revisit the Human-Robot Cloud architecture and present its pilot deployment on the campus of NCSR Demok… Show more

“…SLR uses a thorough, reliable, and verifiable technique to offer a fair appraisal of a research subject [21]. Many academics in diverse domains like healthcare systems [22], networking [23], crowdsourcing [24], and many others use SLR work to explore the extant and identify the gaps in the literature and define new research direction for the researchers to explore. This SLR method summarizes the literature on artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches used in financial institutions.…”

“…Work on efficiency in energy use and people comfort can be found at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest where a control implementation of an intelligent building through the implementation of a mechanism driven by a set of policies under which the heating system is activated [30]. Other studies were focused on the implementation of Human-Robot Cloud architectures (HRC) [31] on the specific scenario of smart building for efficiency gains and energy saving. This paper presents a proposal whereby sensors, processors and actuators, which include facial identifiers and human locators, are transferred to a distributed and reconfigurable cognitive system which can support multiple applications in the future.…”

“…They implemented Smart Building Controller with an execution mechanism driven by a set of policies, which activates the heating system. Other studies were focusing on implementation of the generic Human-Robot Cloud architecture [4] in the Smart Buildings scenario: a realworld application with immediate benefits in energy optimization and energy savings. In [4] some sensors with a number of processing and actuation elements, such as including face detection and people trackers, are transformed to a prototypical reconfigurable distributed extended cognitive system, which can support multiple applications in the future.…”
