Sodium dodecyl sulfate sensitized electrochemical method for sub-picomole level determination of topotecan hydrochloride at a novel disposable electrode

Abstract: A sub-picomole level topotecan hydrochloride determination method was first proposed using sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as a sensitized reagent at a novel disposable electrode (an improved wax-impregnated graphite electrode). The effects of different kinds of surfactants on the electrochemical response to topotecan hydrochloride were examined. The results indicate the electrochemical signal was apparently improved by SDS. At optimal conditions, the oxidative peak current increased linearly with the logarithm o… Show more

“…[199] The best result for paclitaxel (taxane) was obtained on PGE modified with functionalized MWCNTs, TiO 2 NPs, zirconium dioxide NPs (ZrO 2 NPs) and CHIT (LOD of 10.0 pM). [200] Impressive analytical parameters for topotecan (topoisomerase 1 inhibitor) sensing were obtained on wax impregnated CPE in the presence of SDS surfactant (LOD of 640.0 fM), [201] and on glassy carbon paste electrode modified with AuNPs and acetylene black NPs (LOD of 16.4 pM). [202] However, in [202] reported LOD is questionable since it is 2 orders of magnitude lower than the first (still impressively low for such straightforward surface modification protocol) studied concentration equal to 2.0 nM.…”

“…7 TOP and PNT were determined using different reported methods, such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), 8-12 spectroscopic, [13][14][15][16] and voltammetric techniques. [17][18][19][20][21] Carbon dots, small nanoparticles typically less than 10 nanometers in size, are known for their distinctive optical properties, including uorescence. 22,23 These nanomaterials are especially valued for their low toxicity, which gives them an edge in biocompatibility and environmental safety compared to other quantum dots.…”
