Soft Ferrite: A Brief Review on Structural, Magnetic Behavior of Nanosize Spinel Ferrites

Abstract: In the present work, we have focused on crystal structure, magnetic properties, M-H curve, superparamagnetic behavior and magneto-crystalline anisotropy of soft ferrimagnetic oxides having spinel structure. Due to their unique magnetic properties such as high Curie temperature and high saturation magnetization, spinel ferrites offer opportunities for applications in different fields such as hyperthermia, targeted drug delivery, magnetic resonance, microstrip antenna. Various applications of these ferrites have… Show more

“…Among transition metal oxides, one can distinguish iron oxides, iron co-oxides with other metal oxides and the solid solutions of oxides. The abovementioned iron co-oxides with other metal oxides are commonly referred to as ferrites [28]. Out of the variety of ferrites, one can separate spinel ferrites, which are widely used as magnetic materials in electrical engineering, electronics and microwave devices [29].…”

“…Ferrites have less expressed magnetic properties than iron alloys, but their low electrical conductivity and high chemical stability can be advantageous, e.g., in the production of RAC. Spinel ferrites are magnetically soft materials (low coercive force H c and high initial magnetic permeability µ 0 ) with moderate anisotropic constant and ferromagnetic resonance frequency [28]. One can also note the relatively high Curie temperatures (the ferromagnetic to paramagnetic transition points) in the 100-300 • C range.…”
