Soil and Humans: A Comparative and A Pictorial Mini-Review

Abstract: Soil is an essential component in the ecological system that supports human life with needed food for humans, feeds for animals, fibres, fuels, building materials, and other necessities. However, soil suffers from a number of problems caused by humans, presented here in pictorial form. This review will take us on a narrative journey through soils with a focus on the soil-human relationship and its impact on soil ecosystems. Soil has direct and indirect relationships to humans, starting with the crucial roles o… Show more

“…Hairy root culture using A. rhizogenes, which had an inhibition effect on the proliferation of human breast cancer under cell line [242] Concerning the photographic approach, many pictorial published articles have recently been issued on different topics, including management of salt-affected soils [243], soil and humans [244], the soil-water-plant-human nexus [245], and a from-farm-to-fork approach using nanofarming of vegetables [246].…”

“…Humic acids were found to be among the physiochemical approaches that can control available contents of PTEs in soil (Rong et al, 2020). It is one of the three main components of organic residues humic acids (HAs), fulvic acids (FA), and humin (Farid et al, 2018 andElshaboury and Sakara, 2021;Elramady et al, 2022). This fraction is not soluble in water under acidic conditions, but become soluble and extractable at higher pH values (Kleber and Lehmann, 2019).…”

“…Diagrammatic articles are highly effective at communicating these complex nexuses (El-Ramady et al 2022a, b). Several recent investigations of these nexuses have used diagrams such as illustrations and/or photographs, such as soilhuman relationships (El-Ramady et al 2022c), management of salt-affected soils (El-Ramady et al 2022d), and the soil-water-plant-human nexus (Brevik et al 2022), along with other issues like smart agriculture , the comparison of higher plants and mushrooms (El-Ramady et al 2022e), nano-farming , and nano-grafting (Bayoumi et al 2022). The main difference between a typical review article and diagrammatic review is that the pictorial review heavily depends on presenting the available information using diagrams, photographs, and other image-based methods.…”
