Pradesh during the year 2018 to evaluate the effect of organic manures on the overall character of Assam Lemon. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 12 treatments and 3 replications viz. T 1 -Control, T 2 -RDF: N:P:K (100:100:100 g/plant/year), T 3 -FYM (20kg/tree), T 4 -Vermicompost (10kg/tree), T 5 -Neem Cake (2kg/tree), T 6 -Mustard Oil Cake (2kg/tree), T 7 -FYM (10 kg/tree) + Neem Cake (1kg/tree), T 8 -FYM (10kg/tree) + Mustard Oil Cake (1kg/tree), T 9 -Vermicompost (5kg/tree) + Neem Cake (1kg/tree), T 10 -Vermicompost (5kg/tree) + Mustard Oil Cake (1kg/tree), T 11 -FYM (10kg/tree) + Mustard Oil Cake (1kg/tree) + Neem Cake (1kg/tree) and T 12 -Vermicompost (5kg/tree) + Mustard Oil Cake (1kg/tree) + Neem Cake (1kg/tree). Maximum number of fruits/plant (85.66), fruit set (30.02%) and yield/plant (9.60 kg), juice content (47.46 ml/fruit), TSS (5.78 °B), total sugar (6.19%), reducing sugar (3.62%), ascorbic acid (52.63 mg/100 g), available nitrogen (430.52kg/ha), available phosphorus (57.30kg/ha), available potassium (306.13kg/ha), organic carbon (2.62%), total nitrogen (2.35%), total phosphorus (0.16%) and total potassium (1.66%) was recorded by treatment T 10 -Vermicompost (5kg/tree) + Mustard Oil Cake (1kg/tree). However, non-significant effect was found in vegetative growth parameters. Thus, application of Vermicompost (5kg/tree) + Mustard Oil Cake (1kg/tree) before flowering to get the best crop with maximum yield and quality.

Chemical fertilizer has been excessively used for high yield of citrus around the world, especially in China; meanwhile, it deteriorates the citrus orchard soil environment. To resolve the conflict, the use of organic fertilizer provides a promising solution. However, the data about organic fertilizer used in citrus orchard is rarely available. Here, four treatments including CK (no fertilizer), CF (chemical fertilizer), OF + CF (chemical fertilizer reduction combined with organic fertilizer; application of N, P2O5, K2O fertilizer and organic fertilizer is 0.564, 0.236, 0.336 and 10 kg/plant), and BF + CF (chemical fertilizer reduction combined with bioorganic fertilizer; application of N, P2O5, K2O fertilizer and bioorganic fertilizer is 0.508, 0.320, 0.310 and 10 kg/plant) were performed in a ‘Ponkan’ (Citrus reticulata Blanco) orchard to evaluate the effect of organic fertilizer on citrus yield, growth, soil properties etc. when nutrients of fertilizer of each treatment were equal except CK. The data obtained in 2019 and 2020 showed that both OF + CF and BF + CF were beneficial to improve soil fertility (soil physicochemical and microbe properties) and citrus growth physiology (growth, nutrient and photosynthesis), alleviate NO3−-N leaching, and promote yields. Comprehensive evaluation indicated that BF + CF was more effective than OF + CF. Together, organic fertilizer has the potential to substitute partial chemical fertilizer with improvement in soil properties, growth physiology, and yield of citrus.

Plant growth regulators are extremely important natural hormones which control the growth and the physiological factors within the plant. They are naturally occurring as well as synthetic. PGRs like Auxins, ethylene, cytokinins and gibberellins are the growth inhibitors and growth retardants. The foliar application of plant growth regulators helped in increasing the quality of the fruit crops. Auxin is required for fruit retention in sweet cherry, litchi, grapevine, snake fruit and tomato. Most commonly used auxins are IBA, NAA, IAA, 2,4D etc. IBA at the concentration of 4000 ppm is the best plant growth regulator for rooting in cuttings. Gibberellins (GA) are diterpene plant hormones that influence various aspects of growth and development through complex biosynthetic processes. Application of GA with combination of Zinc and pruning showed better performance in fruit weight, ascorbic acid, and reduction in pre-harvest fruit drop. Repeated applications of brassinosteroid have a long-lasting effect on strawberry cv. Winter Dawn physiological growth. Triacontanol (TRIA), natural plant growth hormone in fruit crops. It regulates a variety of physiological processes in plants. Salicylic acid (SA) is a plant hormone best recognized for modulating host responses in response to pathogen infection.SA treatments boosted crop productivity and fruit quality criteria such as firmness, aril color, and individual sugar and organic acid concentrations at harvest. It is revealed by many studies that the application of biofertilizer play an essential role for increasing the sustainability of the soil and also enhance the organic matter content, aeration, fertility, availability of micro and macronutrients with in the soil which are the essential things for the better survival of the plant and results into the good quality and higher yield from the plant. The present review encompasses the use and the effect of different PGR’s and biofertilizer on the fruit crops.
