Soil Series Characteristics Available Nutrients and Yield in the Soils of Baragaon Block District Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh.)

Abstract: Soils are finite, precious and resources are shrinking. The nutrients control the productivity from the soils and manage the yields of crops. The Baragaon block of district Varanasi was selected for Land Resource Inventory on 1:10000 Scales for optimal Agricultural Land Use Planning using geospatial techniques. Seven soils series were identified and Soil profile samples were collected and analyzed in laboratory for pH, EC, OC, Caco3, N, P, K, and micronutrients Zn, Cu, Fe and Mn. Soil samples were found low in… Show more

“…"The electrical conductivity can be an important soil fertility index for site-specific management as it is highly correlated with crop yield" [14]. "The low electrical conductivity of the study area might be due to inherent factors like soil minerals, climate, soil texture, and leaching of soluble salts due to excessive rainfall" [15][16][17]. The CV was found to be 24.07 percent.…”

“…Widespread deficiencies of N, P, K, S, Zn, Fe, B etc. are so intense that visual symptoms are very often observed in major crops (Singh and Mishra, 2012). In intensively cultivated soils are being depleted with available nutrients especially secondary and micronutrients.…”

“…These acidity groups include 58.84% of field soils, 56.25% of orchards and 35.79% of vineyards (Stokić et al, 2022). For that reason, evaluation of fertility status of the soils of an area or a region is one of the most important aspects in the context of sustainable agriculture (Singh and Mishra, 2012). Systematic control of soil fertility is a measure aimed at monitoring changes in various parameters of soil fertility, i.e.…”

“…The lowest value of phosphorus content was observed at Umraha village, whereas the highest value was at Paterwan village. About 50% of phosphorus is found in organic form and decomposition of the organic matter produces humus which forms complexes with Al and Fe and protect the P fixation [13].…”
