Egypt was an agricultural society, soil and fertility were the secrets of the ancient Egyptian's life, so mud was a highly important role in ancient Egypt. Mud was the symbol of origin and fertility, and it was the cause of life. Mud connected with the creation and existence of the human being in ancient Egyptian thought, the ancient Egyptian realized that his earlier creation was from nature, and he considered himself as the son of the earth. The real importance of mud cleared in Egypt since prehistoric times, its world, religious, and funerary role was highlighted by the time, the ancient Egyptian used mud to set up worldly buildings and making pottery. Mud also had a curative property, it used as prescriptions of some injuries or splinting fractures as natural bandages. Its funerary role is shown in the burial customs in several tombs during the pre-dynastic period, Mud was sometimes poured into the tombs after burial as a desire for resurrection in the other world or a form of maintaining the body and the funerary offerings. Furthermore, it was occasionally used in mummification. Mud had very important magic and religious role in ancient Egypt, it was used in making vow offerings and funerary goods such as clay hairballs, clay trays, votive statues, soul houses, and clay face masks. So, it is important to highlight mud and its uses to show its worldly importance, as well as its religious and funerary significance to clear the purpose of using it in ancient Egypt.

ourteen soil profiles were collected to represent an area about 40 feddans of faculty of agriculture farm, Sohag University to evaluate land capability and crop suitability of soils. Morphological, physical, chemical, fertility characteristics of examined soils were recognized using standard methods of soil testing. All soil attributes were input in different models of suitability and capability evaluation. The salient findings of this study revealed that, the study area was near to optimal (G1) and good capable (G2) except few sites were very poor (G4). Soil suitability evaluation was done for Wheat, Maize, Alfalfa and Poato crops using parametric and MicroLEIS (ALMAGRA) models. The area under investigation has been generally divided into highly to marginally suitable (S1 and S2 in parametric method and S3 in MicroLEIS-ALMAGRA model) for cultivating these crops except few sites were not suitable (S5 in MicroLEIS model) for this purpose. Soil limitations were observed in the study area such as low organic matter, coarse soil texture, alkalinity, and salinity. Storie index and parametric methods were strongly recommended to be used for land capability and suitability assessment in the investigated area, respectively. These findings are useful for decision makers to be used in better planning and management of agricultural lands.

Soil is an important source of resources required for human health and well-being. Soil is also a major environmental reservoir of pathogenic organisms. This may include viruses like the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), which through 2020 and 2021 created dramatic catastrophes worldwide as the causative agent of the coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19). So, soil has both positive and negative impacts on human health. One of the major positive impacts is the transfer of nutrients from soil to plants, and from there to humans through their diet. Biofortification is able to enhance the levels of nutrients essential to human health in the crops we consume and represents a sustainable solution to address malnutrition, which in turn may strengthen the human immune system against COVID-19. This nutrient transfer works better when we have healthy soils. Therefore, soils and biofortification have important roles to play in combatting the COVID-19 pandemic. However, several questions still remain, such as what are the expected environmental impacts of COVID-19 on soil? Can SARS-CoV-2 be transmitted through soil, and under what conditions? Which soil processes and properties influence SARS-CoV-2 survival rates and times, as well as transmission? What are the specific links between soil health and COVID-19? What are the projected soil management scenarios in response to COVID-19? Questions such as these deserve more attention as the world seeks to recover from its most recent pandemic.
