Solution approach for optimal power flow considering wind turbine and environmental emissions

Abstract: The power grid is changing expeditiously with the increasing penetration of renewable energy sources (RES). Optimal utilization of RES reduces the burden on the primary grid and makes the grid more resilient. Traditional optimal power flow (OPF) is a complex problem in power management systems, and the complexity further increases with the integration of RES due to their intermittency. This paper presents the complete formulation of the OPF model incorporating wind turbines (WT) and environmental emissions for… Show more

“…where F ( x , y ) represents the objective function, g ( x , y ) = 0 represents the equality constraint, whereas h ( x , y ) 0 represents the inequality constraints, x , and y are the vectors of state and control variables. Equality and inequality constraints, state and control variables considered in this study are taken from the reference (Maheshwari and Sood, 2022).…”

“…In the literature, many meta-heuristic methods have been used for solving OPF problem considering RESs. In [ 3 ], the authors provided ant lion optimization (ALO) algorithm for solving the OPF with wind energy. White sharks algorithm has been employed in [ 4 ] for solving the OPF problem with solar and wind energies.…”

“…In this regard, numerous solution methods involved with (OPF) problem have been investigated in the literature along with different scenarios to engage wind turbines and PV generation in the mathematical modelling of OPF [20][21][22][23][24][25]. To address the uncertainties that introduced by (RES), researchers have used Weibull`s probability distribution functions (PDFs) and lognormal PDF or Beta PDF to forecast the stochastic conduct of wind speed and solar irradiance respectively in mathematical models of OPF.…”
