Solution‐Processed Monolayer Organic Crystals for High‐Performance Field‐Effect Transistors and Ultrasensitive Gas Sensors

Abstract: This work innovatively develops a dual solution-shearing method utilizing the semiconductor concentration region close to the solubility limit, which successfully generates large-area and high-performance semiconductor monolayer crystals on the millimeter scale. The monolayer crystals with poly(methyl methacrylate) encapsulation show the highest mobility of 10.4 cm 2 V −1 s −1 among the mobility values in the reported solutionprocessed semiconductor monolayers. With similar mobility to multilayer crystals, lig… Show more

“…A representative example is given by the work of Torsi et al who have L‐phenylalanine‐modified organic semiconductors to selectively probe optical isomers . Engineering of dielectric layer and of device architecture, as well as integration of sensors arrays are actively pursued to increase figures of merit to meet requirements of specific analyte detection . Some OFETs are even able to sense ions in marine environment .…”

“…As depicted in Figure c,d, the ultrathin HTEB‐based OFET sensor showed excellent sensitivity, high selectivity, and reversibility to NH 3 gas, with a LOD of 100 ppb. In another work, Chan and his co‐workers developed a dual solution‐shearing method to generate large‐area, highly crystallized, and continuous semiconductors monolayers of 2,9‐didecyldinaphtho [2,3‐b:2′,3′‐f]thieno[3,2‐b]thiophene (C 10 ‐DNTT) in millimeter scale . The growth of crystallized semiconductor monolayer includes process of dissolving and recrystallization (Figure e).…”
