Some Issues on the Design of a Solar Vehicle Based on Hybrid Energy System

Abstract: The conception and assembly of an experimental Hybrid Electric Vehicle based on the combination of human energy contribution and photovoltaic solar energy is presented in this manuscript. The vehicle has a battery for storing the energy provided by both systems. The application's aim is to achieve the lowest possible energy consumption for the vehicle's movement, with photovoltaic modules as the main electricity source. The development of the solar vehicle was motivated by a Latin-American solar vehicles race … Show more

“…So it is necessary to increase battery capacity in, accordance, to the concept of battery autonomy for smooth working of the solar powered electric vehicle. 13,14 Table 2 shows variable statistics of solar power-operated vehicle. According to Table 2, we took 5100 observations of solar radiation and wind velocity through the pyrheliometer and anemometer, respectively, and assess those data by regression software and find out modes of frequency and lower and higher value of each observation.…”

“…In the month of August, it is very difficult to operate solar power vehicle due to the rainy season, and according to Table , solar radiation in this month is 3.18 kWh/m 2 /d. So it is necessary to increase battery capacity in, accordance, to the concept of battery autonomy for smooth working of the solar powered electric vehicle . Table shows variable statistics of solar power–operated vehicle.…”

“…Whereas the study [20] of has been proposed other HEV powered by solar energy of average speed of 40 km/h. Different aspects in designing and implementing a small size solar vehicle have been presented in Spina et al [21], an experimental solar vehicle named Pampa Solar has been manufactured, and successfully tested.…”

“…The ehybrid vehicle contains the solar module, wind turbine, battery bank, PMDC motor, diesel engine, charging unit, accelerator, speed control rheostat, step-down transformer, rectifier, MMPT and another controlling unit. The Ac power supply source is used when sunlight is absent due to weather conditions; supply is used to charge the batteries during standstill condition of the vehicle [1]. When sunlight is present the PV module convert the solar radiation into electricity which is used to charge the batteries in both condition i.e standstill and running conditions.…”
