Southern Iraq gas station conversation to integrated solar combined cycle

Abstract: Iraq has a big shortage in the electrical system and this is because of repeated wars that have destroyed the country’s economy and infrastructure. In order to improve the situation and progress of the country we see that the exploitation of huge and neglected land, where Iraq has a very featured site can make it a factory for the production of electric power through the exploitation of the vast areas as fields of cells and solar plants to produce electricity. Iraq is characterized by the number of sunny hours… Show more

“…In this paper, we will study the effect of temperature on the performance of solar panels and choose the marsh area in order to take advantage of the breeze phenomenon or (continentality). The region is very rich in solar radiation throughout the year, as well as the length of daylight hours, but the only problem is the high temperatures and these figures (4,5,6) and table1 illustrate that. Important data about the area were collected with the help of the services provided by NASA and this data is very important for conducting the study using important programs such as Homer and Matlab.…”

“…The large availability of water is a very good parameter when need thinking about use cooling methods. Thus floating solar way have great chance in hot and arid countries like Iraq, where operating temperature need to be controlled to optimize panel execution [4].…”

“…In this case, we will be adding (75 MW and 65 MW steam turbines) operated with the solar field collectors and the gas exhaust from gas power plants of 200 MW. With high irradiation in the season of summer during the month of June the station can be achieved more than 25% of the solar part when using the ISCCS station [3].…”

“…The request for power electric in this country raised from 11500 MW in the 2007 to the 16500 MW in the 2013, to the 24500 MW in the summer 2018, and is predictable that the demand for electricity will be raised by more than 33000 MW in the 2022. Around 70% of the total electricity generated in 2013 are loosed, which contains both technical, commercial and administrative losses transmission 6%, distribution 13%; theft and no billed 23%; no collected 26%; and collected 33% [3][4][5]. Over 90% of the losses are in the distribution network of which 79% are non-technical losses (theft, no billed and no collected.…”
