“…Although it is also possible for homopolar space charge to be formed if positive/negative ions are extracted into the cathode/anode electrodes while homopolar ions remain, transport of ions into electrodes is much more difficult compared to electronic charge injection since mass transfer is involved in ion extraction. Another supporting fact is that steady heteropolar ionic charges can easily accumulate around the electrodes in many polymer dielectrics, since this cannot happen if ions can be effectively extracted into the electrodes [50][51]. Besides impurities in LDPE matrix, nanofillers can also introduce ionizable impurities, whose effect become more significant with increasing filler contents and aggregation of fillers.…”
