Spatial differences and influencing factors of regional agricultural water use efficiency in Heilongjiang Province, China

Abstract: Improving the water use efficiency in agriculture is an important way to solve the problem of water shortage in agricultural areas and to improve the efficiency of water resource utilization. In the past two decades, China has experienced water scarcity, resulting in an annual loss of over 27 million tons of grain production . Despite this, its water use efficiency remains suboptimal with an irrigation water utilization rate of approximately 51%, significantly lower than the observed ratio of 70–80% in developed countries, indicating a significant waste of agricultural water resources .
