Abstract:Paramagnetic manganese can be employed as a calcium surrogate to sensitize the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique to the processing of calcium during the bone formation process. At low doses, after just 48 h of exposure, osteoblasts take up sufficient quantities of manganese to cause marked reductions in the water proton T1 values compared with untreated cells. After just 24 h of exposure, 25 μM MnCl2 had no significant effect on cell viability. However, for mineralization studies 100 μM MnCl2 was used… Show more
Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry has been proven to be useful in life sciences as can be observed by the increasing number of publications in this field.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
