Spatially continuous dataset at local scale of Taita Hills in Kenya and Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania

Abstract: Climate change is a global concern, requiring local scale spatially continuous dataset and modeling of meteorological variables. This dataset article provided the interpolated temperature, rainfall and relative humidity dataset at local scale along Taita Hills and Mount Kilimanjaro altitudinal gradients in Kenya and Tanzania, respectively. The temperature and relative humidity were recorded hourly using automatic onset THHOBO data loggers and rainfall was recorded daily using GENERALR wireless rain gauges. Thi… Show more

“…This agricultural area is characterised by a bimodal rainfall regime, with a long rainy season starting from March to May and a short one from mid-October to December. The mean annual temperature ranges between 18 and 23°C [ 20 ] and mean annual rainfall between 1500 and 2000 mm at 1500 m asl [ 21 ]. During the coolest period (June to August), the average temperature ranges between 18 and 20°C.…”

“…An important factor that can support adaptation is membership in farmers organisations. Organisations help farmers access loans to, for instance, buy improved seed varieties, buy agrochemicals, irrigate, and employ soil conservation techniques, as shown in many other studies [57,[88][89][90].…”

“…In R software all variables were generated as tiff raster layers in Arc 1960/ UTM 37S WGS-84 (World Geodetic System 1984). A raster layer was converted to ASCII raster format as required for modelling purpose with same geographic reference system and grid size (Mwalusepo et al 2016).…”
