Spatio-temporal Evolution Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Carbon Emission Reduction Potential in China

Abstract: This study first attempts to use the parameterized quadratic Directional Distance Function (DDF) approach to calculate China's provincial carbon abatement cost and carbon reduction potential (CRP) under different scenarios from 2000 to 2017. Afterward, considering three different scenarios, we analyze the Spatio-temporal characteristics and the dynamic evolution pattern of CRP. We also conduct the spatial autocorrelation test and spatial Durbin model to analyze the spatial spillover effects and influencing fac… Show more

“…The primary goal of complex network research is to unveil statistical properties of these networks, such as degree distributions, clustering coefficients, and average path lengths, and to explore the universal principles and rules underlying these properties [22,23]. By studying these statistical properties, one can gain a better understanding of the mechanisms, stability, and resilience of networks, as well as various dynamic processes within them.…”

“…To correct the unit standard equivalent value in Hebei Province and obtain the farmland ecosystem service value of each unit and each year by calculation, we referred to existing literature [35,36]. Agricultural carbon emissions were mainly based on the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, agricultural film, diesel oil, land tillage and irrigation in the process of agricultural production, referring to Li [37]. The carbon emission coefficients used to calculate available carbon emissions were 0.8956 kg/kg, 4.9341 kg/kg, 5.18 kg/kg, 0.5927 kg/kg, 312.6 kg/km 2 and 20.476 kg/km 2 .…”

“…The climate change caused by environmental pollution is closely linked to economic growth [10]. Therefore, determining how to effectively cut carbon emissions and maintain the area's ecological environment while achieving the medium-high economic development of the BER is one of the major issues currently being faced [11]. Understanding the dynamics and spatial correlation of carbon emission intensity is crucial for realizing a low-carbon development mode [12,13].…”
