Special issue on intelligent systems

Abstract

Welcome to the special issue on "Intelligent Systems, ISMIS 2022 selected papers". This issue contains extended papers from the 2022 edition of the International Symposium on Methodologies for Intelligent Systems (ISMIS 2022), held in Cosenza, Italy (3-5 October 2022). The submission was by invitation only: authors of papers presented at the conference were invited to submit an extended version of their paper for possible inclusion in the Special Issue.ISMIS is an established and prestigious conference for exchanging the latest research results in building intelligent systems and transferring scientific achievements towards industrial applications. The scope of ISMIS is to present a wide range of topics related to the application of Artificial Intelligence techniques to areas such as decision support, knowledge representation, logical programming, knowledge-based systems, machine learning, planning, computer vision, information retrieval, configuration and diagnosis. The conference also focuses on interdisciplinary research in AI-related fields, for example, decision support systems and human decision making or recommender systems and human personality, and knowledge-based systems development and cognitive aspects of knowledge understanding.We received twenty diverse submissions showing the liveliness and the breadth of this field. Of the received submissions, we eventually selected eleven for inclusion in this special issue. The accepted articles have undergone from two to four rounds of rigorous peer-reviewing
