Spectrophotometric and Stability Indicating High Performance Liquid Chromatographic Determination of Nortriptyline Hydrochloride and Fluphenazine Hydrochloride

Abstract: Spectrophotometric and high performance liquid chromatographic procedures are described for determination of nortriptyline hydrochloride and fluphenazine hydrochloride. The first procedure is based on application of first derivative of ratio spectra ( 1 DD) for quantitative determination of nortriptyline hydrochloride in presence of fluphenazine hydrochloride. Secondly, an accurate, sensitive and stability indicating method has been introduced for determination of nortriptyline hydrochloride and fluphenazine h… Show more

“…Recovery determination for bulk powders applying standard addition technique (Table 3) gave good results. The obtained results were statistically compared with those obtained by applying a reference method, [34] in which HPLC-method was used for determination of the analytes mixture using a conventional RP-C18. In the reference method, [34] the mobile phase was prepared by mixing 0.05 M ammonium acetate in distilled water: methanol: acetonitrile in a ratio (4: 1: 5) at flow rate of 1 mL min À1 ; the pH was adjusted to 7.5 AE 0.1.…”

“…These techniques include fluorimetry [7], colorimetry [8], electrogenerated chemiluminescence [9], thin-layer chromatography [10], gas chromatography [11], high-performance liquid chromatography [10,[12][13][14][15][16][17], fast Fourier transform continuous cyclic voltammetry [18], stripping voltammetry [19] and capillary zone electrophoresis [20,21]. Certain hyphenated techniques such as ultra performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry [22], gas chromatography-mass spectrometry [23,24] and dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction combined with gas chromatography [11] have been reported for the assay of nortriptyline.…”

“…Numerous analytical techniques have been noticed in the literature for the analysis of FPZ. The techniques include spectrophotometry [ 5 ], spectrofluorimetry [ 6 ], turbidmetric [ 7 ], gas chromatography (GC) [ 8 ], HPTLC [ 9 , 10 ], etc. A number of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) methods have also been reported for this drug using ultraviolet (UV) as well as mass (MS) detectors [ 11 16 ].…”
