“…206 Also, data suggest SPTCC improved short-term, but not longterm, cough associated QoL. 199,206,207 It also reduced cough frequency, 201,203,205,207,208 severity, 207 and capsaicin-triggered cough reflex sensitivity. 203,205,207 It is suggested SPTCC can be initiated prior, during, or after 203 medical therapy of refractory cough.…”

“…One meta-analysis contains only two trials that involved a total of 162 patients. The authors emphasize the beneficial effect of the intervention (PSALTI, physiotherapy and speech and language therapy intervention) on quality of life and reduction in the number of coughing incidents per day, however, the effect was not long-lasting and persisted for approximately 4 weeks after the completion of the trial [18]. The lack of structured programs and the limited availability of the method in many countries constitute additional complications.…”

“…They have been reported to be equally effective, with fewer side effects, compared to pharmacological therapies (6,13), however, there is a paucity of information regarding which nonpharmacological therapies are most effective. Four systematic reviews of non-pharmacological management of chronic cough have been published in the past decade (9,(14)(15)(16), however they focused mainly on speech language pathology, neglecting other therapies such as behavioral therapies or relaxation (14,16), or focused on people with only refractory chronic cough, excluding those with chronic cough due to chronic respiratory diseases (9,15). Our systematic review adds to this field of research by including, both, people with refractory chronic cough or chronic respiratory diseases, and seeking to identify all non-pharmacological therapies.…”
