“…The spindle cell variant of rhabdomyosarcoma was first recognized in the early 1990 s and was thought to occur principally in children and adolescents in the paratesticular region. 43,44 Such lesions in young patients have been shown to have an extremely good prognosis with a 5-year survival of greater than 90%. Similar lesions in adults were first described in 1998, 45 and subsequent experience has shown that, in older patients, these lesions occur mainly in the third and fourth decades and show a striking predilection for the head and neck region, at which site it is difficult to obtain wide surgical margins.…”
