Chronic disorders of the hoof are frequent findings in horses that often cause hoof deformities and are often responsible for lameness. Traumatic injuries, primary and secondary bacterial infections of the adjacent skin and the hoof are the main causes. Tumours of the hoof are rarely described, and clinical differentiation between neoplastic and non-neoplastic disorders is often difficult. This report describes two cases of chronic deforming hoof disorders with clinical suspect of neoplastic origin. However, the first case was diagnosed as chronic, diffuse dermatitis and pododermatitis, the second case presented a squamous cell carcinoma in the hoof. Keywords: horse / pododermatitis / squamous cell carcinoma / coronet / hoof wall / neoplastic skin disease
