Stabilization effect of Weibel modes in relativistic laser fusion plasma

Abstract: In this work, the Weibel instability (WI) due to inverse bremsstrahlung (IB) absorption in a laser fusion plasma has been investigated. The stabilization effect due to the coupling of the self-generated magnetic field by WI with the laser wave field is explicitly shown. In this study, the relativistic effects are taken into account. Here, the basic equation is the relativistic Fokker-Planck (F-P) equation. The main obtained result is that the coupling of self-generated magnetic field with the laser wave causes… Show more

“…The temperature anisotropy can be generated in plasma by different mechanisms, specifically the heat transport, the expansion of the plasma, and the inverse bremsstrahlung (IB) absorption [5]. The WI is intensively studied in the literature in the all regime [6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14], The Classical WI interpreted in the references [6][7][8][9] by considered different theoretical models which is the Fokker-Planck equation Were develop the electronic distribution function on the Legendre polynomials and deduce the growth rate of WI. The main results obtained in this works are that the inclusion of self-generated magnetic field due to Weibel instability stabilizing Weibel modes.…”

“…Several authors have made the case that Weibel instability can and should be taught to undergraduate physics students [1][2][3][4][5] and many other articles can be found offering advice in this endeavor [6,7]. Surely another important two components of good teaching are to identify the subtle areas and to present them clearly using careful mathematic method.…”

“…In Ref. [12], a theoretical model and numerical treatment, using the relativistic Fokker–Planck equation and accounting for the stabilization effect resulting from the coupling of the self‐generated magnetic field by the WI with the laser wave field in the relativistic regime, show a decrease in the growth rate of the Weibel mode. Therefore, new studies of WI in quantum plasma, as discussed in References, 13 and 14 ] using Wigner–Maxwell model, have obtained results indicating that the quantum effect tends to weaken or suppress the growth rate of Weibel instability.…”
