Stable Isotope Tracer Methods in Lignin Research (Laboratory Manual for a Beginner)
Noritsugu Terashima
Abstract:Synthetic methods for 13 C-labeled monolignol glycosides (coniferin, syringin and p-glucocoumaryl alcohol), with the label on the α-, β-, or γ-carbon of the side chain or 4-, 5-, 3-, or 1-carbon in the aromatic ring, are described. Synthetic procedures are given for dehydrogenation polymers (DHPs) from the coniferin and 13 C-enriched cell wall-DHPs using isolated tree soft parts. Experimental procedures are also described for the 13 C-enrichment of specific carbon atoms of cell wall lignin by feeding the 13 C-… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
